ILLEGALS: Where there's smoke....

| May 5, 2010 10:00 PM

By now everyone in the U.S. now knows Arizona has taken steps to slow the onslaught of “undocumented immigrants” from crossing over the border from Mexico to the U.S. via Arizona and numerous other crossings along the border of Mexico and the U.S.  And a number of the population is now questioning the right of the law enforcement authorities from stopping anyone they suspect of being in the country “unlawfully,” in other words “racially profiling” the citizenry.

What a crock!  If anyone thinks there is going to be wholesale stopping of “illegals” in the state, they don’t know Arizona.  I lived there almost 20 years and I can tell you that it would take literally an army to do this, the same for the whole Southwest.  It is a border state, and there are a lot of Hispanics who live there, legally born there and otherwise.

Most law enforcement personnel will tell you they develop a “sixth sense” about someone when they stop them.  If they are acting nervous and or erratic, then maybe something is up. In the case of stopping someone for being a particular type of person, they don’t have time for that unless there is something that alerts them to something, like a van full of people, maybe speeding down the highway with their lights off, etc.

In Arizona they have road blocks all along the border, and even in California, out of San Diego they have the same.  The purpose is to stop illegal immigration.  So when all the politicians and concerned citizens are screaming about racial profiling what are they really talking about?  Besides, when you are pulled over for doing something wrong on the roadway, what is the first thing the policeman asks for? Your driver’s license, and if can’t speak English, then maybe they have a valid reason for pursuing more questioning, etc.

The organizations and politicians that are decrying this law have picked one aspect of the law and are hammering on it because there is nothing else they can do because illegal immigration is illegal!
