SPOKANE - The Spokane Chiefs have cut ties with head coach Hardy Sauter after two seasons.
Sauter, an assistant when Spokane won the Memorial Cup in 2008, was promoted to head coach the following season. He signed a two-year deal, with a third year being the team's option. The Chiefs opted not to exercise the option year on his deal. Sauter went 90-45-3-3 with the Chiefs in two seasons as head coach.
The Chiefs said they will begin their search for a replacement immediately.
