Janine C. Hughes, 87

Janine C. Hughes, 87, of Coeur d’Alene, passed away May 1, 2010, in Post Falls. She was born Sept. 2, 1922, in Huy, Belgium, to Desire and Nelly (Lamy) Croupette.

Janine met her husband, Kenneth, during WWII and they were married Aug. 7, 1945, in Belgium. She came to the United States, arriving at Ellis Island in March 1946 and was proud to become a U.S. citizen.

Janine came to Coeur d’Alene in 2005 from Reno, Nev. She spent four and one half wonderful years at Fairwinds in Coeur d’Alene where she had many friends, especially her best friend, Rosemarie.

Survivors include her daughter, Chris Cavallaro-Smith and husband Jim of Coeur d’Alene; grandson Michael Cavallaro and wife Elisha of Hauser Lake and great-grandchildren Kayleb and Shaylee.

Janine is preceded in death by Kenneth, her husband of 58 years, in 2003. Her final resting place will be beside him in Reno.
