Dorothy Elizabeth Stoke, 77

Dorothy Elizabeth Stoke, 77, passed away May 2, 2010, at Pinewood Care Center in Coeur d’Alene. She was born Aug. 6, 1932, in Meadville, Pa., to William and Hazel (Lewis) Schrubb.

Dot was raised and educated in Meadville at St. Agatha’s Roman Catholic School. Later she met and married John “Jack” Stoke in Marietta, Ohio, on Feb. 3, 1953. Jack’s work took them to Iowa, Illinois, New Mexico and California; before settling in Rathdrum in 1971.

That same year the family bought The Beehive restaurant in Coeur d’Alene, which they kept in operation until 1977. Dot and Jack then opened a restaurant at the Garwood Tavern. She worked as a custodian for the Lakeland School District until retiring in 1995. Dot enjoyed her T.O.P.S. Club, VFW and Eagles. She and her late husband often attended sporting events at Lakeland High School. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a brother and a sister. Dot is survived by her sons and daughters-in law, Todd and Helen Stoke of Oxnard, Calif., Mark and Becky Stoke of Blacklick, Ohio, and Bruce and Jeannine Stoke of Noxon, Mont.; her daughters and sons-in-law, Evelyn and Kevin Kempton of Spokane, Carol and Todd Zimmermann, Valerie and Walt Meyer and April and Dale Saputski, all of Rathdrum, and Donna Webley of Enfield, N.H.; 25 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
