Davis beats Greinke in pitchers' duel

Wade Davis beat Zack Greinke in a scintillating pitchers' duel, and Evan Longoria homered in the fourth inning to lift the Tampa Bay Rays over the Kansas City Royals 1-0 on Sunday in St. Petersburg, Fla.

The Rays will start a three-game series with the host Seattle Mariners on Tuesday.

Orioles 3, Red Sox 2, 10 inn.: Ty Wigginton doubled home the winning run in the 10th inning following a throwing error by Boston closer Jonathan Papelbon, giving host Baltimore its first three-game sweep of the Red Sox at home in 36 years.

Yankees 12, White Sox 3: Mark Teixeira tied a career high with four hits and Robinson Cano had a three-run homer, backing another dominant performance by Phil Hughes in host New York's rout of Chicago.

Tigers 5, Angels 1: Justin Verlander took a one-hit shutout into the ninth inning and Miguel Cabrera hit an RBI single in a four-run fifth, leading Detroit past visiting Los Angeles for its season-best fifth straight victory.

Twins 8, Indians 3: Delmon Young and rookie Wilson Ramos each had four of visiting Minnesota's 20 hits and the Twins got another strong start from Francisco Liriano to beat Cleveland.

Blue Jays 9, Athletics 3: Shaun Marcum won for the first time since 2008, supported by home runs from Fred Lewis, Alex Gonzalez and Aaron Hill in host Toronto's victory over Oakland.

Cardinals 6, Reds 0: Chris Carpenter pitched seven innings of two-hit ball and Albert Pujols broke it open with a three-run double in the seventh as host St. Louis beat Cincinnati to wrap up a 6-1 homestand.

Padres 8, Brewers 0: San Diego shut out visiting Milwaukee for the third time in four games on a combined three-hitter by Jon Garland and two relievers.

Rockies 4, Giants 1: Jhoulys Chacin allowed one hit in seven scoreless innings for his first major league win, Melvin Mora hit a two-run single and visiting Colorado avoided a three-game sweep by beating San Francisco.

Cubs 10, Diamondbacks 5: Alfonso Soriano hit a pair of two-run homers, Marlon Byrd also hit a two-run shot and host Chicago won the last three games of the series with Arizona after dropping the opener.

Dodgers 9, Pirates 3: Andre Ethier homered twice with four RBIs, Blake DeWitt had his first four-hit game in the majors and James Loney added a pair of run-scoring hits in host Los Angeles' win over Pittsburgh.

Braves 7, Astros 1: Jason Heyward and Melky Cabrera each drove in three runs and host Atlanta completed a three-game sweep that leaves Houston with a six-game losing streak.

Marlins 9, Nationals 3: At Miami, Hanley Ramirez drove in four runs with two homers, and Florida beat Washington to take the rubber game to win a series for the first time in two weeks.

Phillies 11, Mets 5: Shane Victorino hit a grand slam off Johan Santana and Chase Utley had a two-run shot during host Philadelphia's nine-run fourth inning, helping the Phillies pound New York.
