Cady/deTar third at I.E. tourney

SPOKANE - Post Falls seniors Dyllin Cady and Marian deTar went 1-1 on Saturday, defeating a team from Richland (Wash.) 6-4, 7-6 (7) to claim third place in the No. 1 mixed doubles at the 43-team Inland Empire Tournament at Mead High.

"It was a very, very solid place to finish," Post Falls coach Angela Blair said. "They definitely got a lot of play in and upped their play over the last couple of days."

The duo also had to advance through a four-match preliminary round on Friday to make it to the championship bracket today.

"They really had to play their way into the championship," Blair said. "They had to play an extra match compared to everyone else, but they are working well together and playing up at the net and putting the pressure on other teams."

Cady and deTar lost to a team from Ellensburg 6-3, 6-2 in their semifinal match.

Post Falls will host Sandpoint on Tuesday.
