WALLACE - The Wallace District Mining Museum will unveil The Pulaski-1910 Fire Virtual Exhibit from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today.

The grand opening will showcase a new touch-screen kiosk. Using state-of-the-art technology, visitors will learn about the mighty fire, which incinerated more than 3 million acres of woodland, Forest Service legend "Big Ed" Pulaski, the archeology of the Pulaski Tunnel and the Wallace experience during those fiery days.

"This is really something special, really neat," said WDMM Executive Director Jim McReynolds.

Various 1910 artifacts and old photographs will also be on display.

Stan Cohen, author of "The Big Burn: The Northwest's Great Forest Fire of 1910," will speak at 10:30 a.m.

At 1 and 3 p.m., Steve Matz, the Idaho Panhandle National Forest heritage manager, will present his recollections of the 2008 Pulaski Tunnel & Cabin Archaeological Project.

Please RSVP for Saturday's grand opening by calling the WDMM at 446-1592. Seating is limited.
