SPIRIT LAKE - A Spokane Valley man who was cited for driving under the influence during a crash near Spirit Lake on Wednesday night was in fair condition at Kootenai Medical Center on Thursday.

According to Idaho State Police, Richard Krumbach, 51, was southbound at 5:30 p.m. on Highway 41 on a 2002 Honda motorcycle when he lost control. He was trying to stop for a pickup that had stopped for a school bus, police reported.

The motorcycle went down and slid into the back of a 1997 Dodge Ram pickup driven by Cameron Simon, 17, Rathdrum.

Neither Simon nor two teen girl passengers were injured. All were wearing seat belts. Krumbach was wearing a helmet.

Sandpoint considering paperless city hall

SANDPOINT - City Hall is considering going paperless and saving a lot of greenbacks in the process.

Adopting a green, cyber version of city council packets, meeting agendas and minutes could save the city thousands of dollars annually, one council member said.

Going green, which includes adding computer screens in the council chambers, would also provide the public with minute-to-minute information during council meetings, according to the proposal being considered by administrators.

Council member Justin Schuck proposed the idea of having the city go paperless recently after reviewing the city budget that sets aside approximately $5,000 per year for paper used at City Hall in addition to $1,600 for copy costs associated with leasing a copier.
