Carol Erickson, 64

| March 23, 2010 4:12 AM

Carol Erickson died peacefully March 19, 2010, with her family by her side after a brief illness. She was born July 25, 1945, in Coeur d’Alene.

She grew up in Pullman, Wash., and graduated from Pullman High School in 1963. After high school she became a flight attendant for Northwest Airlines and was based in Minneapolis, Minn.

Carol married Gene Erickson and they had two children. After the children were born she wanted to move back closer to family and settled in Spokane. She spent many years in retail management with Rusans, Lady Oh and La Femme boutique. Carol loved working in women’s clothing and made so many friends! Wanting to stay in management, she decided to open the Perfumania shop in Post Falls and worked there for years before the mall closed.

Carol most enjoyed spending time with her family, watching sports, (she was an avid WSU Cougar fan), vacations to Disneyland and Las Vegas and weekends at the family cabin on Lake Pend Orielle. Carol could be happy with just a cold Pepsi and dark chocolate! She had compassion for those in need and was always donating to the Post Falls Food Bank and other local charities.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walt and Clara Fredekind and brother Stan Fredekind.

Carol is survived by daughter Kimberly (Brad) Banta, their sons, Kamden, Tage and Branston of Post Falls; son Shawn Erickson of Post Falls; sister-in-law Carole Fredekind of Post Falls, her children, Dirk, Kara and Kiel.

Arrangements are being made by English Funeral Chapel. Graveside service will be at 10:15 a.m. Friday, March 26, 2010, at Forest Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene. Memorial service to be held at 11 a.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church, 1011 N. Compton, Post Falls. A luncheon will follow.

If you wish to make a donation, the family suggests either Hospice of North Idaho or the Post Falls Food Bank.

The family would like to extend a very heartfelt thank-you to the doctors and nurses at North Idaho Advanced Care Hospital who cared for her in her final weeks.
