Marie Coffman Roberts, 70

| March 18, 2010 4:50 AM

Marie Coffman Roberts passed away surrounded by her loving family after succumbing to a courageous battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. She was born on Sept. 29, 1939, in Iowa City, Iowa, and married Kenneth C. Roberts on Aug. 26, 1958.

Marie was a kind and generous woman with an optimistic and resilient personality and possessed strength, perseverance and the ability to overcome incredible odds. She was an avid fantasy sports enthusiast and puzzle fanatic who enjoyed fine food, humor, a rare virgin piña colada, camping with her dogs, Scrabble, literature, needlework, her computer, and spending time with her husband and loved ones. Marie loved animals as much as they loved her and owned several dogs throughout her life. She relentlessly worked to find homes for the many stray animals that crossed her path.

Marie found her ideal career working as a USPS Rural Mail Carrier. She enjoyed the fresh air and the opportunity to interact with people and their pets. Over the span of her 23 years at civil service, she had the opportunity to make an impact in the lives of many of her customers.

Marie was an ageless and fearless woman who gave strength and joy to everyone and her absence leaves us with memories of laughter, love and of her enduring smile. She led her family and friends to truly value each moment.

Marie joins her sons, Jay and Thomas and her beloved friend, Samuel Gallagher.

Marie is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Kenneth C. Roberts; daughter Jo Gallagher and husband James and son Robin Roberts and wife Anita. She is survived by her grandchildren, Jeremy Colston and wife Angela, Keith Colston and wife Teresa, Emily Weisinger, Joshua Colston, Andrew Filler and wife Sara and Tanner Roberts; great-grandchildren, Talan, Justice, Dominic, Tahia, Kaiden, Marcus and Elias Colston and Madeline Gallagher.

Marie is survived by her dear friends, Barbara Scott, Tom and Linda Gallagher and Jim and Sheila Gallagher.

Condolences can be sent to Ken Roberts, 8122 N. Maribou Drive, Hayden, ID 83835.

A private celebration of her life will be held on a date to be determined.
