Vet cemetery events corrected

Information provided to The Press published on Thursday regarding Saturday's activities at the regional veteran's cemetery outside Spokane was incorrect.

A mini conference for those currently in an honor guard or those interested in serving with one will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at 14124 W. Highway 2.

Heading westbound from the Spokane airport, the building is the fourth on the right side past Craig Road in the area of Airway Heights.

Promptly at 2 p.m. a caravan of anyone wishing to tour the cemetery will be ushered to the cemetery about 9 miles away in Medical Lake. Those wishing to be a part of the tour should show up at the building on Highway 2 before 2 p.m.

The grand opening for the cemetery will be on Memorial Day. Services start June 1.

Catholic school

to hold auction

COEUR d'ALENE -

Holy Family Catholic School's 14th annual auction takes place Saturday at The Coeur d'Alene Resort.

"Believe ... In Our Future" features nearly 300 silent auction items including spa packages, dining opportunities, and mini-vacations.

An AKC registered Golden Retriever, Notre Dame football tickets, Gonzaga tickets for the 2010-11 season and the Battle in Seattle will all be on the auction block.

Tickets are $50 per person and include dinner. Doors open at 5 p.m.

Advance tickets are recommended and can be purchased by calling the school, 765-4327.

Pancake breakfast set for Saturday

ATHOL - A safety awareness pancake breakfast will be held Saturday at the Athol Community Center, 30355 Third St.

The fundraiser for the Clover Kidz 4-H Club will run from 8 a.m. to noon, with eggs, sausage and all-you-can eat pancakes.

Fire safety with Sparky the fire dog, fingerprint ID cards and public safety information from the Kootenai County Sheriff's Department will be included in the event.

The cost is $5 for adults, $3 for children under 10, and kids 5 and under are free.

Irish, Viking link

POST FALLS - The link between the Irish and Vikings will be celebrated on Saturday at the IOOF hall, 200 E. Railroad Ave.

Sponsored by Sons of Norway, the public is invited to enjoy corned beef and cabbage, Irish dancers, Celtic art and a raffle.

Dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. with the program at 7:30. Adults are $10, kids under 12 $5. Reservations are required.

Fundraiser set for diabetes patient

POST FALLS - Two bands will perform and food will be plentiful at Moon's Mongolian Grill & Bar on Saturday as staff and friends come together to help one of the regulars.

Music by Dark Horse and Smokewagon, raffles, games and a silent auction will be among the activities to help raise money for Jeff Williams, who incurred unexpected medical costs due to diabetes.

The party begins around 5 p.m. in the lounge at 1901 E. Seltice Way in Post Falls.

DUI enforcement begins today

The Coeur d'Alene Police Department will be participating in a statewide DUI enforcement mobilization beginning today and continuing through March 22.

Officers will be participating in a grant-funded operation focused primarily on violations of operating, or being in physical control of a motor vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicating substance.

"We are suggesting that if adult members of our public are going to legally consume alcohol, and they are planning on being mobile, they arrange for a designated driver, or other means of lawful transportation," according to a press release.
