VETERAN: Vandalism really does hurt

| June 18, 2010 10:00 PM

Sunday was a beautiful day until my wife and I left Chili’s. My car was vandalized and the author of the note left on it stated that they thought I was too “mobile” to have a blue disability placard.

I suppose all the medical care I received from Langstuhl Regional Medical Center, Womack Army Medical Center, Duke University Medical Center, William Beaumont Medical Center, Raymond W. Bliss Army Health Center, Davis Monthan Air Force Medical Center, Camp Foster US Naval Hospital, Camp Casey and 121st General Hospital in Yongsan Korea should take that as a compliment.

However, had this coward talked to me before vandalizing my car, she/he would have found out that I was retired from my military career because of disabilities, and that there are good days and bad days. I was having a good day until encountering this situation.

I would be remiss if I didn’t also give credit for the great care from the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Spokane, and the Kootenai County Veterans Service Office in staying “mobile.”
