SCHOOLS: Reject proposed schedule

| June 4, 2010 10:00 PM

I am writing this letter to inform the school board that I do not support your modified school day proposal for the next school year. Late start on Monday is nothing but difficult for the working parents of school age children.

This past year we had a modified school schedule at Hayden Meadows and I am wondering why the school district is not looking at a schedule of this type. For those unfamiliar with the schedule, our children started school at 8:40 every morning (great for parents who begin work at 9 a.m. - we are able to see our children off to school and make it to work on time!)

Our children had an early release at 1:40 p.m. on Wednesday to allow for teacher collaboration.  Our children are out of school at 3:20 the other four days per week. This still allows parents to get our children to after-school activities.

The school board needs to remain “in touch” with parents and educators to achieve a working balance with our kids.  Once again school board members and Superintendent Bauman, my family does NOT support your new schedule nor does it make sense!
