COEUR d'ALENE - Two events are coming up to help a local man battling cancer.

Joseph Cawyer Anderson, 20, was diagnosed with grade 4 glioblastoma, a brain tumor. Pathology reports show the cancer to be one of the worst and fastest growing.

Joey attended Spokane Falls Community College and played on their soccer team. He now lives with his mother, Cindy Anderson of Cheney, who is his full time care giver.

Joey's father, Hank Harrison and aunt and uncle, Sandy and Jeff Crump live in Post Falls and are raising funds for Joey through carwashes and local benefits throughout the community

A vendor fair in the Skate Plaza parking lot is scheduled 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. There will be vendors with everything from Pampered Chef to TomBoy Tools, and home interior to Mary Kay.

There will be live music, a jumping castle and face painting for the kids, along with a bake sale. Each vendor has agreed to donate one item specifically to be raffled for Joey and up to 50 percent of their proceeds.

"Please come and help support Joey. He needs all the help he can get," said a press release

A benefit concert and barbecue is scheduled for July 25, 3-8 p.m. at the Slab Inn in Post Falls. There will be music by "Somebody's Hero" of Post Falls with food, drinks and raffles

There is a $5 cover charge, $10 plate, and raffle tickets for prizes such as gift certificates and rounds of golf are $3 each or 15 tickets for only $25.

Any local business owner or individual who would like to donate can contact Sandy Crump at 755-9079, or a donation can be made at any Spokane Teachers Credit Union in Joseph's name (Joseph Cawyer Anderson).
