Danks' gem helps White Sox finish sweep of Halos

AMERICAN LEAGUE

John Danks held the Angels hitless for six innings before finishing with a two-hitter Thursday, and the surging Chicago White Sox beat visiting Los Angeles 1-0 for a four-game sweep and their 22nd victory in 27 games.

Danks gave up a leadoff single to Reggie Willits in the seventh, stopping his bid for the fifth no-hitter in the big leagues this season. But after yielding another single, he pitched out of trouble and got his first major league shutout.

Orioles 6, Rangers 4: At Arlington, Texas, Craig Tatum drew a bases-loaded walk in the eighth inning to force in the go-ahead run, Scott Moore and Felix Pie homered, and Baltimore rallied from a four-run deficit to beat Texas.

Rays 5, Indians 2: At St. Petersburg, Fla., Carl Crawford hit a pair of two-run homers, Wade Davis stopped his six-game winless streak and surging Tampa Bay beat Cleveland.

Blue Jays 8, Twins 1: Jose Bautista hit one of Toronto's five homers and Brett Cecil snapped a four-start winless skid, leading the Blue Jays past visiting Minnesota.

NATIONAL LEAGUE

Astros 2, Pirates 0: Roy Oswalt allowed only a first-inning single to Neil Walker, Lance Berkman provided the power with two home runs and host Houston completed a three-game sweep of Pittsburgh.

Rockies 4, Cardinals 2: At Denver, Ubaldo Jimenez became the first pitcher to reach 15 wins before the All-Star break in 10 years and Colorado beat St. Louis.

Dodgers 3, Cubs 2: Rafael Furcal hit a go-ahead, two-run homer in the seventh and Los Angeles beat visiting Chicago.

Diamondbacks 10, Marlins 4: At Phoenix, Kelly Johnson and Gerardo Parra had four hits apiece, leading Arizona past Florida.

Giants 9, Brewers 3: Aubrey Huff homered and drove in four runs, rookie Buster Posey homered again and San Francisco won at Milwaukee to complete a four-game sweep.

Padres 7, Nationals 1: Mat Latos threw seven shutout innings and had two hits, including one of San Diego's four homers, leading the Padres at Washington.

Phillies 4, Reds 3, 12 inn.: Brian Schneider hit a game-ending homer in the 12th, lifting host Philadelphia over NL Central-leading Cincinnati.
