Golf
Hunter Mahan won the Phoenix Open in Scottsdale, Ariz., for his second PGA Tour title, coming from four strokes back to beat Rickie Fowler by a shot in a 1-2 finish for former Oklahoma State players.
The 27-year-old Mahan had an eagle and a pair of birdies in a late four-hole span to finish at 16-under 268. Mahan, whose first victory came at the 2007 Travelers Championship, closed with consecutive bogey-free 6-under 65s.
Phil Mickelson shot a final-round 67 to finish at 9-under.
• Ai Miyazato won the HSBC Champions in Singapore to become the first LPGA Tour player in 44 years to sweep the first two events of a season, closing with 3-under 69 for a two-stroke victory over Cristie Kerr.
Miyazato, the 24-year-old Japanese star who won the LPGA Thailand last week, took the lead with a birdie on the par-4 16th - a hole she played in 5 under for the week - and parred the final two holes to finish at 10 under on Tanah Merah's Garden Course.

No. 14 Michigan State 53, No. 3 Purdue 44: At West Lafayette, Ind., Raymar Morgan had 16 points and 11 rebounds to help the Spartans (22-7, 12-4 Big Ten) beat Purdue (24-4, 12-4) and snap the Boilermakers' 10-game win streak.
No. 5 Duke 67, Virginia 49: At Charlottesville, Va., Kyle Singler scored 21 points as the Blue Devils (25-4, 12-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) handed the Cavaliers (14-13, 5-9) their seventh straight loss.
Duke remained a game ahead of Maryland heading into a first-place showdown with the Terps in College Park, Md., on Wednesday night.
No. 20 Temple 65, La Salle 53: At Philadelphia, Juan Fernandez sank seven 3-pointers and scored 23 points, Lavoy Allen had 17 points and 20 rebounds and the Owls (24-5, 12-2 Atlantic 10) rolled over La Salle (11-17, 3-11).

Spurs 113, Suns 110: Richard Jefferson scored 20 points in his best game since losing his starting job, and host San Antonio beat Phoenix to end the Suns' five-game winning streak.
Lakers 95, Nuggets 89: Lamar Odom scored nine of his 20 points in the fourth quarter, Pau Gasol had 15 points and 14 rebounds, and host Los Angeles overcame an 11-point third-quarter deficit to beat Denver.
Kobe Bryant was just 3 for 17 from the field, finishing with 14 points and 12 assists. The two-time scoring champion was 1 for 9 in the first three quarters.
Hawks 106, Bucks 102, OT: Joe Johnson scored nine of his 24 points in overtime and 15 rebounds to help Atlanta end visiting Milwaukee's winning streak at six.

• Novak Djokovic successfully defended his Dubai Championships title in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, beating Mikhail Youzhny of Russia 7-5, 5-7, 6-3 in a rain-delayed final.
