DRISCOLL: Thanks, and a clarification
Thank you for the wonderful article awhile back on the presentation of the Disability Action Center - NW disability advocate award to Bob Driscoll of Health and Welfare. Bob is a great friend to those in need of a hand up. He is a class act!
I want to clarify that Disability Action Center is a grassroots, advocacy organization that is run by people with a disability with a philosophy of self-help and peer advocacy support. It is an empowerment center with offices in Coeur d’Alene, Moscow, and Lewiston that prides itself on being equal and inclusive of all people in our communities. We are proud to operate in a full “team” style.
The newspaper incorrectly identified one of our staff as director. This staff member and the others in the office would no doubt prefer that the community recognize us all as equals, just as we view ourselves and our connections to each other and others in our communities.
Though we do have a company CEO in Moscow to do the business stuff, we really prefer to present as an equal team, both in the office and with our with our friends and neighbors with a disability in the community. As PBS’s Red Green says, “We’re all in this together"! Thank you north Idaho for all your support, and, Bob Driscoll, for all you do!
