Bartenders charged with over-serving patrons
COEUR d’ALENE — A pair of bartenders at the downtown sports bar and dance club, the Icon, were cited for over-serving customers early Saturday morning.
They are the first alcohol-related service citations issued downtown since business owners and law officers began identifying ways to make nighttime activity there safer.
One citation was issued to a bartender just after midnight for serving an intoxicated person, and the other was given to another bartender for serving a patron at 2:55 a.m.
Both are misdemeanor infractions, and were noticed by Coeur d’Alene police officers during their downtown walking patrols, Sgt. Christie Wood said.
All alcohol-related service citations are reported to the state’s Alcohol Beverage Control Bureau, which reviews them to determine if the business deserves fines, punishments, or suspensions.
