Joan C. Wegner, 75

Joan C. Wegner, longtime resident of Hayden Lake, Idaho, passed away peacefully Feb. 17, 2010. Joan was born Oct. 31, 1934, in Stevensville, Mont., to Warren and Adella Russell. She was married to Clarence “Clancy” Wegner in 1954.

 Joan was a beauty operator, owning her own shop in Hayden, Idaho, which she later moved to her home to raise her two sons.

She was an active bowler for many years, loved to cook, fish, camp and tend to her many plants. She and Clancy operated the Foxy Inn for a while where they met many longtime friends. Her favorite organization she dearly cherished and belonged to was the Hayden Lake Eagles.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clancy; sisters Clara, Opal, Eleanor,  Julia, Georgia and brother Red; plus her nephew, Arvin who was raised with the family.

Joan is survived by brother Stewart Russell (Lucille) of Osburn, Idaho; son Rick (Lisa) of Post Falls, Idaho; son Greg (Debbie) of Athol, Idaho; grandsons Michael, Keith, Jim, Grant, Bill and great-grandchildren Bianca, Nina, Keith Jr., Bryce, Dallas and Amanda.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hayden Lake Eagles, Aerie 4080.

A memorial to celebrate Joan’s life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010, at the Hayden Lake Eagles.
