Harold D. Atkinson Sr., 78

| February 23, 2010 12:50 PM

Harold D. Atkinson Sr., 78, was better known as Dad, Grandpa, Papa C., Grandpa Tiny, Curley, Hal and Friend. Although he enjoyed all those rolls, the roll he most desired was husband. Feb. 18, 2010, he left us to join his wife and Savior just in time to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary together once again.

Born Nov. 6, 1931, in Ardmore, Okla. Harold served in the United States Air Force for 10 years and married Gladys in 1950. He will be missed deeply by his children Tim and Sheri Smith, Rocky Atkinson, Sue and Kim Johnson, Nancy and Rich Kjos, Rex and Tobi Atkinson. He always felt blessed with their 14 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. He enjoyed taking his grandchildren fishing and spending time with his kids. In his pastime he loved watching wrestling with his sons. Harold was deeply involved in the American Legion Post 143 and very dedicated to honoring our vets. For years he served in helping the Post Falls Food Bank, he managed “Stow and Go Storage” in Post Falls, Idaho, for more than 20 years as well as serving as a greeter in his church.

Harold will be laid to rest with Military Honors in the “Wall of Honor” at Evergreen Cemetery.

Everyone is welcome to join us at Evergreen Cemetery (Spokane Street — between Poleline and Prairie avenues in Post Falls). Ceremony will begin at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, 2010, directly followed by memorial service at American Legion Post 143, 1138 E. Poleline Ave., Post Falls, (208) 773-9054.
