Stabbing suspect sought by police

POST FALLS - A 49-year-old Otis Orchards man told police he was hit in the face and stabbed in the leg after he picked up a hitchhiker near Seltice Way and Beck Road on Friday afternoon.

The victim, whose name was not released pending notification of his family, was transported to Kootenai Medical Center to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 20s with blue jeans and a blue-colored hooded jacket. He ran south from the vehicle on Seltice around 12:45 p.m. Police were unable to locate the suspect.

Those with information are urged to call the Kootenai County Sheriff's Department at 446-1300.

Athol man dies in one-car accident

An Athol man died in a single-vehicle accident near Spirit Lake on Friday.

Idaho State Police said Larry G. Young, 72, died at the scene around 8 a.m. on Highway 41 and Seasons Hill when the 2003 Dodge Ram pickup he was driving left the road.

Young was traveling southbound near milepost 15 when his vehicle left the shoulder on the west side of the roadway, went down an embankment and hit several trees before coming to rest at the bottom of the embankment, ISP reported.

Young was wearing a seat belt.

Youth forum?participants sought

The Idaho Council on Developmental Disabilities is seeking youth applicants for Idaho Youth Leadership Forum - a week-long leadership, citizenship and career development program for high school juniors and seniors with disabilities.

Selected students serve as delegates from their communities at the five-day conference held on the Boise State University campus.All expenses, including travel, are paid. YLF will be held June 22-26.

Applications are available online at the DD Council Web site, www.icdd.idaho.gov. The deadline is March 19.

The name of the TV show that will be showing a re-enactment of Michelle Cornelsen's coffee stand heroics is "Crime Strike." A story in the Feb. 10 Press had the incorrect title. Some episodes on the show do feature incidents where lives were lost. This wasn't conveyed in the story.
