Rotary Students of the Month for January
Jason Hendrickson, a senior at the University of Idaho Coeur d'Alene, is majoring in psychology. Before attending the University of Idaho, Hendrickson earned his associate's degree in psychology from North Idaho College. He currently serves as a developmental therapist at North Star Child Development where he works with developmentally disabled children under the age of 7.
Hendrickson was named to the dean's list at NIC during multiple semesters and was accepted into Psi Beta, the National Psychology Honor Society.
More recently, Hendrickson was elected to the Golden Key International Honor Society.
He maintains a 4.0 grade point average at the University of Idaho and will graduate in May. He plans to attend graduate school and obtain a Ph.D. in clinical psychology.
Kyle Knapp, a 41-year-old single father, is the first in his family to attend college. He maintains a 3.5 grade point average in North Idaho College's nursing program and plans to attend Lewis-Clark State College to become a Registered Nurse and receive his bachelor's degree.
Knapp plans to work locally as a licensed R.N. and attend Gonzaga University for an advanced degree. He also plans to continue volunteer work with lower socioeconomic individuals and people with disabilities. Knapp, a volunteer fundraiser for Sorensen Magnet School, helps raise nearly $40,000 annually. He enjoys fatherhood, rowing, fly fishing and snow and water skiing.
Cole Florey, 17, is a senior at Coeur d'Alene High School. He takes advanced learning classes wherever possible, and hopes to attend Harvard, Yale or Brown university after graduation. An accomplished gymnast, Cole earned numerous regional and state titles until being sidelined by an injury for his last year of high school. He is one of the founding members, and is very active in, the Human Rights Club at CHS.
Matt Hall, a senior at Lake City High School, is on track to graduate with an International Baccalaureate diploma. Hall's advanced learning classes include debate and symphonic band. He maintains a grade point average of 4.2 and ranks ninth in his class of 342. A National Merit Scholarship semi-finalist and a member of National Honor Society, Hall also belongs to the school's Key Club. He plans to play tennis at LCHS this year.
Hall earned the Boy Scouts of America's Eagle Scout Award this year by directing a project to build a new trail on Canfield Mountain.
He hopes to attend college on the East Coast, and has already been accepted at Georgetown University. He hopes to earn a doctorate degree and become a professor.
