Hale, Taylor help lead men; women take charge in SWAC
- MEN'S BASKETBALL
EPHRIAM, Utah - Michael Hale had 16 points and six assists, DeAndre Taylor came off the bench to score 15 and eighth-ranked North Idaho College defeated Snow College (9-16, 3-12) 88-63 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
Renado Parker scored 12 points and BJ Shearry added 10 for the Cardinals (21-3, 11-3), who have a two-game lead over Salt Lake and Eastern Utah for first place in the SWAC standings.
"We started off on a 16-1 run and never really looked back," NIC coach Jared Phay said. "Taylor came off the bench and provided a spark. It was a well-balanced effort where everyone played their part and did it well."
The Cardinals play at Salt Lake today.

EPHRIAM, Utah - Tugce Canitez scored 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, former Coeur d'Alene High standout Kama Griffitts added 14 points and No. 17 North Idaho College defeated Snow College (18-7, 9-6) 75-55 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
The Cardinals (21-3, 12-3) took sole possession of first place in the SWAC after Salt Lake fell to Southern Idaho and can take a two-game lead with a win today at Salt Lake.
"I thought we played good team defense and set the tone," NIC coach Chris Carlson said. "Playing back-to-back games on the road and heading down to Salt Lake is always a challenge, but we can take a huge step toward a SWAC championship with a win tomorrow."
Chantel Divilbliss hit 10 of 11 free throws and finished with 13 points for the Cardinals and Kiki Edwards-Teasley chipped in with 10 points.

North Idaho sweeps
SWAC doubleheader
ST. GEORGE, Utah - North Idaho pulled even in the Scenic West Athletic Conference standings at 3-3 following a doubleheader sweep of the Snow Badgers at Little Valley Park.
Alyssa Hawley, Lauren Maloney, Briggett Plenger and Brittany Chesnut had two hits apiece in the first game for North Idaho.
Maloney broke a 3-all tie in the bottom of the seventh inning, driving in Hawley for the game-winning run in the nightcap.
North Idaho (6-8) faces Snow today at St. George.
