Tripler making yearbook herself

New Vision student's design will be on career day T-shirt

POST FALLS - There's no group effort with the New Vision High yearbook staff this year.

That's because one student - Bree Tripler - is doing it herself.

"I was supposed to work with someone else, but she finished her credits and the teacher thought it would just be easier if I did it myself," said Tripler, who will graduate in December.

Tripler doesn't mind working on the DVD yearbook alone.

"I'm interested in graphic design, and I've kept up with everything that needs to be done," she said. "I like to be creative on the computer."

Tripler has taken photos at events and assemblies since the start of the year and has incorporated each student's school photo into the project.

She said working on the yearbook has been rewarding and it feels good to be able to make her classmates something that will last a lifetime to remember their high school years.

Tripler's passion for art was evident when she placed in two contests in December.

Her design was chosen to be on the T-shirt of this year's Hard Hats, Hammers and Hot Dogs, an annual manufacturing and career day for area middle and high school students at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds in April.

She also won an acoustic guitar for finishing second in the Northwest Academy of Music contest. Tripler enjoys playing classic rock tunes on the guitar.

Tripler said she's glad she's attended New Vision the past two years. The smaller class sizes has helped.

"I was struggling with high school when I came here," she said. "It's been a great experience."

Tripler plans to attend North Idaho College next year and major in graphic design. After NIC, she said she may try to land an internship before going on to a four-year program.

"Graphic design is my thing," she said. "I love everything about it."
