Georgetown throttles Memphis
Austin Freeman scored 24 points and No. 10 Georgetown pulled away from No. 16 Memphis (9-2) in the second half for an 86-69 victory Thursday night at Memphis, Tenn.
Freeman was 9 of 12 from the field, including 2 of 3 from 3-point range as the Hoyas (11-1) won their third straight.
No. 2 Ohio State 92, Oakland 63: At Columbus, Ohio, Deshaun Thomas scored 17 points and five teammates also hit double figures to lead Ohio State (12-0) past Oakland (7-8), giving coach Thad Matta his best start in his seven years with the Buckeyes.
No. 11 Kansas State 80, UMKC 64: At Manhattan, Kan., Rodney McGruder hit seven 3-pointers and scored a career-high 24 points, helping Kansas State (10-3) beat the Kangaroos (7-5).
No. 17 Minnesota 85, South Dakota State 73: At Minneapolis, Colton Iverson scored 15 points, 11 in the second half, and had five rebounds, leading Minnesota (11-1) past South Dakota State (8-4).
No. 19 Tennessee 66, Belmont 65: At Knoxville, Tenn., Scotty Hopson scored 19 points and drove the lane for a go-ahead layup with 5.7 seconds left as Tennessee (8-3) edged Belmont (9-3).
No. 23 BYU 89, UTEP 63: At Provo, Utah, Jimmer Fredette scored 25 points and Jackson Emery added 23, leading BYU (12-1) past the Miners (9-3).
