Indians name Boyle

new radio broadcaster

SPOKANE - Mike Boyle will replace Hall of Famer Bob Robertson as the Spokane Indians play-by-play announcer, the team announced.

Robertson, voice of the Indians for 12 seasons, recently left the team to spend more time with his wife and family in Tacoma.

Boyle has been the radio voice of the Spokane Chiefs for the past eight years.

He began his sports broadcasting career in 1992 as a TV play-by-play announcer for Boise State sports. He moved to the Spokane area in 2000 and is currently a sports reporter and producer at KREM-2 in Spokane.

Boyle has also been the play-by-play announcer for the Tri-City Dust Devils since 2006.

Indians games are broadcast on 1510 KGA of Spokane.

Spokane will honor Robertson's broadcasting career at Avista Stadium during the team's home opener on June 17 against Salem-Keizer.
