Calling all Cd'A Chessmasters

The first rounds of a chess tournament are this weekend at the Coeur d'Alene library.

Billed as the Coeur d'Alene City Chess Championship, rounds one and two will be Saturday, with registration starting at 12:15 p.m. The next rounds will be Jan. 8 and the championship, Jan. 15.

The event is organized by the Coeur d'Alene Chess Club, which has more than 50 players. It is free and open to the public. Players should bring their chess boards and clocks.
