Possible child enticing matches previous incidents
POST FALLS - Post Falls police are investigating a possible child enticing on Wednesday that is similar to recent incidents in Coeur d'Alene and Post Falls involving a navy blue van with a gray stripe.
On Wednesday at 8:10 a.m. an 11-year-old female and a 6-year-old female were walking to their school bus on Warm Springs on the north side of the city, east of Idaho Street and north of Poleline Avenue.
According to reports, a male in a full-sized navy blue van with a large horizontal gray stripe on the side drove up to the girls and stopped his vehicle. He looked at them, and they fled to a neighbor's house for safety.
"This same van was seen parked outside of the juveniles' home with the engine running," a police release states.
The male did not make contact with the females in either incident, but police believe the public should be notified in light of similar recent reports.
The van is described as a late '90s model with only front passenger windows, silver wheels and possibly Idaho license plates.
The driver is reported to be a white male with gray hair and a slight beard.
Parents are advised to speak to their children about dealing with strangers. It is recommended that, if children walk to school, to walk with friends and never alone. Children should immediately flee the area if approached and call 911.
An investigation continues. Police are collaborating with the school district to increase security around schools.
If anyone sees a vehicle matching the description, take note of the license plate and call Post Falls Police at 773-3517 or leave an anonymous tip at 777-COPS or www.postfallspolice.com.
