Kuhn helps Chiefs thump Winterhawks

SPOKANE — Steven Kuhn scored two goals and had one assist as the Spokane Chiefs won their third straight over the Portland Winterhawks, a 9-3 victory Wednesday in Western Hockey League action in front of 3,564 at the Spokane Arena.
Spokane jumped out to a 5-0 lead as five different players scored in the first period. Brenden Kichton and Levko Koper scored 1:06 apart in the second period to give the Chiefs a 7-1 lead.
Spokane (15-9-2-2, 34 points) matched a season-high four goals on the power play as it moved into a tie for second place in the U.S. Division with Tri-City.
Spokane travels to Vancouver, British Columbia, on Friday.
