PLOWS: City misses the mark

| December 1, 2010 9:00 PM

Last Friday at 9 a.m. I went to Aspen Sound on Cherry Lane to drop off my truck. I was surprised at the amount of snow on Cherry Lane when I turned off Hwy 95. I thought the city plows must be on their way. About 10 a.m. when my son picked me up he had to back up and get a run at it several times to get out onto 95 in his front-wheel drive car.

Still I thought the city plows must be coming, right? My hubby took me back to my truck parked at Aspen Sound about 8 p.m. and to our disbelief we found an elderly woman shoveling the incline of Cherry Lane at Hwy 95 so she could get her car out in the morning for a doctor's appointment. She told us that she had called the city of Coeur d'Alene twice during the day and asked them to please come and plow the block long street and that she had a doctor's appointment to go to and wouldn't be able to get out. They did NOT send one!

Had she not already finished shoveling we would've finished it for her. As I sit here now I am wondering if she made it to her appointment. City of Coeur d'Alene, I know you are busy but Cherry Lane is a city street on both sides of 95. It might've taken 10 minutes to plow that block. Shame on YOU!
