NAZIS: Thanks for the clarification

| August 20, 2010 6:43 AM

Oh, my gosh, I read a letter on the opinion page and found out that as a conservative, I might be a Nazi! I had no idea that believing in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights was a Nazi belief. I was totally ignorant that Nazism and not our Constitution and Capitalism made the United States the freest and most prosperous country on Earth. It never dawned on me that those of us who want to preserve our freedoms are really Nazis!

I was under the impression that both extreme Socialism (Communism) and Syncretic Fascism (Nazism) were radically opposite extremes of tyrannical and oppressive political ideologies of the lunatic fringe.

I was under the impression that Nazis were racists, while most true American Conservatives believe, as the preamble to the Declaration of Independence says, all men are created equal.

I was under the impression that both Nazism and Communism believed that killing those who disagree with them is acceptable, while most conservatives believe that all are entitled to life, liberty and equal protection under the law, no matter who they are or in what stage of life, elderly or prenatal.

I could go on indefinitely, but shall not. Suffice to say that those who cannot logically support their position have to resort to name calling (ad-homonym attacks), the lowest form of debate.
