MARRIAGE: One big mess of an issue
I am confused; maybe someone can enlighten me about same-sex marriage.
According to the information I have been able to find on the Internet, 38 states have laws against same-sex marriage. California voters outlawed same-sex marriage twice. How can some states have these laws; and how can they put this proposal on the ballot if it is "unconstitutional?"
Also, how can California allow same-sex marriages after it has been outlawed? The majority of the voters set the law.
When a government employee allowed these marriages against the law, I would have fired him! I am pleased to see that this law is now being upheld during the appeal process. To be "constitutional," I suggest that "marriage" be only between a man and a woman; and same-sex unions be called "civil unions." This should satisfy both sides. I do not condone homosexuality, neither does God, according to the Holy Bible; but, people do have the God-given right of free will. If they go against God's teachings, they will have to suffer the consequences.
