SANDPOINT - Kevin Kirby scored a straight set win over Adam Ohman at No. 2 boys singles, and Piper Wahlin and Mica Wolcott cruised to victory in straight sets at No. 1 girls doubles to lead Sandpoint, which had its tennis match against Lewiston cut short by rain at Travers Park.
Lewiston won five of the seven completed matches, but Sandpoint was leading all four matches on the court when the skies opened up.
Wahlin and Wolcott teamed up for the first time this season, and Kirby continues to recover from burns to his leg and hand.
"Piper and Mica overpowered their opponents with strong volleys and surprisingly good teamwork and had a relatively easy win against a strong team," Sandpoint coach Kent Anderson said. "Kevin dominated the first set utilizing great court sense by moving his opponent out of his comfort zone."
