Golden Eagles swoop past Cards for sweep
COEUR d'ALENE - The College of Southern Idaho Golden Eagles swept the North Idaho College Cardinals in a Scenic West Athletic Conference softball doubleheader 4-2, 8-7 at Memorial Field on Saturday.
Southern Idaho (37-16, 28-11 SWAC) scored two runs apiece in the fifth and sixth innings and Generra Nielson struck out nine in the first game.
North Idaho (28-24, 21-19) built a 7-3 lead after striking for five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. CSI rallied with four runs in the top of the seventh and took the lead on a Kayla Powell solo home run in the top of the ninth inning.
Amanda Krier and Abbey Reardon had two RBIs apiece for NIC, which hosts Colorado Northwestern on Friday. Juliann Hartnett hit a solo home run in seventh inning in the first game for the Cardinals.
