Transient arrested in stabbing death

BOISE (AP) - Boise police are investigating the stabbing death of a homeless man during a fight at a city park.

Police spokeswoman Lynn Hightower sai 51-year-old John Leyland Walters, a transient, was arrested and faces a murder charge.

Witnesses called police to report the fight at about 2:30 p.m. Thursday. When officers arrived, they found the victim badly wounded. Hightower said he was pronounced dead at the hospital. The victim's name and age have not been released.
