DeHaas delivers late for Coeur d'Alene

BASEBALL COEUR d'ALENE - Junior Kaleb DeHaas' RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning lifted the Coeur d'Alene Vikings past the Lake City Timberwolves 7-6 in 5A Inland Empire League play at Ted Page Field. Coeur d'Alene loaded the bases with one out in the seventh to set up the game-winning hit and improve to 11-5, 3-1.

Coeur d'Alene loaded the bases with one out in the seventh to set up the game-winning hit and improve to 11-5, 3-1.

"We played well at times," Coeur d'Alene coach Nick Rook said. "Hopefully we're starting to come together at the right time and working things out to put it together at the right time."

Grant Curtis had three hits for Lake City (6-5, 2-3), which hosts Sandpoint today.

Coeur d'Alene travels to Lake City on Friday.

PRIEST RIVER - The visiting Hawks swept the Spartans in a nonleague doubleheader.

Amber Grubham and Chelsea Campbell each hit home runs in the first game for Lakeland, which got a complete game by Jamie Klopatek.

In the second game, Lakeland scored 16 runs in the first four innings to distance itself from the Spartans.

Lakeland (7-5) hosts Moscow on Saturday.

Kellogg defeats Wallace in nonleague match

PINEHURST - Blake Jerome and Kaceelyn Pouttu of Kellogg won medalist honors in a nonleague match with the Miners at Pinehurst Golf Course.

Jerome shot a 2-over par 38, with Wallace senior Jase Bennett one stroke behind with a 39.

Pouttu shot a 5-over 41 to win by 13 strokes.
