Man sentenced for role in fight
IDAHO FALLS (AP) - A 22-year-old Idaho Falls man has been sentenced to two to five years in prison for his role in a fatal fight over an iPod and a beer.
Shane Beausoleil was sentenced Wednesday by 7th District Judge Jon J. Shindurling, who retained jurisdiction in the case. He ordered Beausoleil to spent the first six months of his sentence at the North Idaho prison in Cottonwood. After that time, the judge will determine if Beausoleil will spend the rest of his sentence in prison or on probation.
Beausoleil pleaded guilty in February to felony aggravated assault for punching and kicking 20-year-old Ryan Dyer during a fight outside an Idaho Falls apartment.
Steven Mitchell was sentenced to 15 years to life for stabbing Dyer 17 times, killing him. Samantha Neyman was sentenced to two to five years for accessory to aggravated battery and for harboring Mitchell and Beausoleil after the fight.
