BVB International Academy Idaho players gather at the 2026 Borussia Dortmund School of Excellence West Regional Talent ID Event in Colorado Springs from Oct. 8-11. From left are Waylon Wood (U11), Hugh Erickson (U11), Westin Kramer (U11), Greyson Guy (U11), Ben Erickson (U12) and Colin Happeny (U11); and rear, BVB IA North America Chief Communications Officer Jason Brewer. Also representing BVB IA Idaho at the event, but not pictured, were Caleb Wurster (U14) and Caspian Brasseur (U14). Unlike a traditional tournament where players or teams simply register to participate, the School of Excellence brings together selected players from BVB International Academy programs for additional talent identification and evaluation. The Colorado Springs event included diagnostic testing, training and competitive scrimmages across age groups U11 through U17. SOE West Event 26 Players wore numbered identification pinnies throughout the weekend so BVB coaches could evaluate them across multiple sessions. The regional event is part of BVB’s larger School of Excellence development pathway, which can lead to additional regional and national selection opportunities. At the highest levels, selected players may earn opportunities connected with Borussia Dortmund in Dortmund, Germany, giving young athletes a pathway to be seen within the international development system of one of Germany’s best-known professional soccer clubs.
