Cheryl Christensen with the Coeur d'Alene Garden Club helped plant 100 iris bulb segments around the Duffield Place sign Saturday, which will eventually welcome residents in to 21 affordable housing units built by Habitat for Humanity.

Irises planted at Habitat for Humanity development pay tribute to family legacy
Jim Duffield can remember when the land between 4th Street and Government Way was populated only by alfalfa and trees. His family once owned eight acres of that land. The Duffields moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1947, his parents building their house on 4th Street by hand.
