“He had it tough back in the day,” former Lakeland High and Prairie teammate Taylor Skidmore said. “He really wanted to be someone the community could be proud of. We kind of lost touch for a while, but communicated after the World Series win. It had been quite a few years and I followed what he did in coaching. All of the stories I’ve heard from former White Sox, none of them surprised me. Bobby had the biggest heart. He had a lot of struggles, but he was an incredible human being.”
