Nettleton Gulch neighbors recount Sunday blaze; IDL says it was held to 26 acres

A full 24 hours after a sniper began firing at firefighters combating a brush fire on Nettleton Gulch Road, the smoke had cleared beyond the emergency staging area. Nora Pierce was home near the Cancourse by Miner's Loop and Shadduck Lane with her dog, Mowgli. Her husband, Jim Pierce, alerted her that there had been trouble on Canfield Mountain and that she should prepare for anything.
