OPINION: Just like everyone else, Idaho’s Attorney General must comply with the law
Three years ago, I joined five other former Idaho Attorneys General in describing that important position as “the …
AID: Going to the wrong people
Unemployment benefits.
SCHOOLS: We must do better
The Coeur d’Alene Press editorial concerning “Lessons for Legislators” on Friday was right on the mark, though I might take it a bit further.
FOOD BANK: A can-do service
The paper got it wrong, the expired cans are not thrown out. They are sorted and put into an expired bin. Those cans are then put on a shelf for people to take home and use.
SHERIFF'S: Not a cut above accepted norm
I can recall years ago when police officers and sheriff’s deputies were referred to as “peace officers.” No more. Today these so-called public servants are called law enforcement officers. Their job is no longer to…
CORE: Facts first, then opinions
There will likely be a great deal of discussion about the Idaho Core Standards during the upcoming legislative session. Before espousing a position on either side of this issue, I would recommend that you become ed…
FRESH START: Thanks for support
The volunteers, staff and clients of Fresh Start, the Homeless Help Center on Sherman Avenue, would like to thank the people of Coeur d’Alene for their support. Donations of food, clothing and cash have allowed us …

FOOD BANKS: Pay attention to dates
As the picture shows on the front page (12/28/13), a Boy Scout is throwing away outdated canned FOOD.
NORTH IDAHO: We live in a great area
I have thought many times, as I am born and raised in North Idaho, to put pen to paper and thank folks who have molded and developed this area for so many, for so many years. Call them unsung heroes who have labore…
MEDICATION: God bless whoever paid
I need to write about this. I was at Kmart (Dec. 20) picking up my meds. It was higher than the money I had so I was telling the pharmacist to take it back. Some lady (God sent her) came up to the cashier and paid …
ITD: Megaload prospects dubious
Idaho Transportation Department’s history at Higgens Point, with a road grader and tractor on the bottom of lake, is hardly a recommendation for future success moving a megaload of refinery equipment across the sam…
