PFPD: Once again a big help
I simply want to express my appreciation for the Post Falls Police Department. Last Saturday, after spinning out on ice and coming to rest in a snowbank, PFPD showed up and saved the day! We are grateful for the ou…
COLUMN: Left out something
I read the Jan. 1 column of Fiona Gressler’s dutiful recitation of populist folklore regarding the source of all our nation’s ills with interest, but think she was remiss in that she failed to mention the most obvi…
DRIVERS: Watch for humans
My concern is drivers who pay no attention or have any regard to pedestrians. I live on a busy street, Prairie Avenue, where it is five lanes. When I go out to get the Coeur d’Alene Press in the mornings, I wait fo…
TRADE: Need to close gap
The question is “What do we make in the USA for the USA”? It was very disconcerting to read last week that the largest container ship in the world, at over 1,000 feet long, arrived in the Port of Long Beach, Calif.…

SENIORS: Tales of contrast
Monday, Dec 28 and Tuesday, Dec. 29 had front page articles on senior citizens. But that is all they had in common.
CHRISTMAS: Message in a wheelchair
Every year I look for something that makes me feel the true spirit of Christmas. I did not expect to find it outside of the Super 1 store in Hayden.
HUNT: Break law, lose sympathy
First off, Mr. Brummett, let me thank you for your service. Both of my grandfathers and many other family members have served in the armed services and I have the utmost respect to all veterans. My grandmother has …
PROPOSAL: Sets stage for more
Mr. Moran, thank you for your response. You clearly proved three of my stated opinions. As for un-American, have you ever heard of the 1773 Boston Tea Party?
GUNS: Wake up to solutions
Since Liberal/Progressives are more apt to gather in gun free zones, due to their belief that guns cause crime, they are more vulnerable to terrorist attacks than most of we pro-gun advocates. Given the fact that t…
