OPINION: Just like everyone else, Idaho’s Attorney General must comply with the law
Three years ago, I joined five other former Idaho Attorneys General in describing that important position as “the …
TRUMPCARE: Just say no
Health insurance is more than a policy, it’s peace of mind. It’s knowing your family will be cared for and not having to worry about going broke when you get sick. That’s why I strongly oppose the Senate health car…
GOP: Wrong on health
Americans across the U.S. have been put in the crosshairs by the GOP’s recent attempts to repeal the ACA and pass their own health care bill, and the Palouse is no exception. Idaho’s 1st district under Raul Labrado…
THOUGHTS: State of the nation
Donald Trump’s brash tweets do not move critical legislation through the White House and Senate. His ego is damaging his presidency. He is his own worst enemy and needs to listen to his daughter, friends and adviso…
RUDE: Antidote is patience
No one likes to be treated rudely. G.W. Haight’s letter “Rude is rude anywhere” (July 2) mentioned behaviors such as chit chatting in the check-out line, parking your shopping cart in the middle of the aisle and ho…
HEALTH: The MS lesson
Sen. Elizabeth Warren recently proclaimed that if certain changes to our health care system are enacted, people will die. Interesting, I also read about a randomized, double blind, placebo-controlled study publishe…
WARMING: Or enriching?
For some time now we have been told by Al Gore, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and 97 percent of scientists that man-caused increases in carbon dioxide are harmful and they will lead to our de…

HEALTH: Single-payer pitfalls
Regarding Saturday’s “My Turn” by Mike Joyce, I couldn’t agree more with his opinion regarding our health insurance for Americans. It is obviously apparent to any thinking American that the single pay for health in…
VA: I second that emotion
I want to compliment Mr. Paul Underwood of St. Marie’s about his letter to the Veteran’s Administration. I think the VA is great! Sure, you have to sit down and wait in long lines. So what? They still give you what…
STATE: Boost key alternate route
The accidents on I-90 east of Coeur d’Alene on Saturday essentially shut down the freeway in both directions for over 4 hours. During that time, many motorists chose to use Yellowstone Trail Road, the only alternat…
TRUMP: Invasion of privacy
I learned of Trump’s demand that the states send their voter data to his “Voter Fraud” committee. Information demanded includes your name, address, date of birth, last four digits of your Social Security number, dr…
HEALTH: Dying for conformity
“Single Payer” health care is not “Healthcare Liberty.” It puts health care in the hands of voters — most of whom are in good health and therefore end up voting in favor of their own wallets. In the United Kingdom,…
VETS: Give VA a break
The Veterans Administration is getting a bad rap from a lot of people, including some vets themselves seeing recent stories in the news. Yes it’s true that the waiting time to see a specialist may take weeks but be…
CATS: The ultimate solution
May I comment regarding the article in The Press of Saturday, June 24, titled “City Considers Cat Conundrum.”
