OPINION: Just like everyone else, Idaho’s Attorney General must comply with the law
Three years ago, I joined five other former Idaho Attorneys General in describing that important position as “the …
TAXES: Count your blessings
Are you, like most of us, concerned about the amount we must pay each year in property taxes? I just read an article in the Wall Street Journal that said, “The tax bill on a $300,000 home in Hartford, CT. is $22,28…
CONSUMER: Big thanks, Bill
I am one of your loyal subscribers to the Coeur d’Alene Press. A few months back I suffered a financial blow when I found out through Bill Brooks, CDA Press Consumer Guy, that Positive Changes was permanently closi…
MEDIA: Public enemy? Hardly
The mainstream, legitimate, media was never more needed in the history of our nation than right now. They sometimes make mistakes but usually (maybe always) correct those, unlike alternate forms of media. The found…
POLITICS: Analytic opportunity
Earlier this year I was invited to join several prominent Idaho conservatives at a local seminar sponsored by Market Research Foundation (MRF). MRF is a nationally recognized organization specializing in predictive…
WATER: Sweet in summer
I have lived in Coeur d’Alene for 45 years and I love the water! From hiking Tubbs Hill many many times to swimming at Sanders Beach and the dyke road with my children (and now my grandchildren), whenever the temps…
THANKS: Soles and Scouts
If I could take a minute to submit a huge thanks to Eric and Breigh Soles for their generous donation to Boy Scout Troop 218 so scouts could attend NYLT this year. NYLT stands for National Youth Leadership Training…

So what if Al Gore is making money? At least he is trying to save the world from human-caused global warming. This also includes 19 other countries trying to do the same thing, except, of course, the United States …
DEPOT: Wrong attitude, friend
Mr. Crouch’s complaint letter about Home Depot not recognizing his form of veteran’s identification could be better resolved with a letter to Home Depot explaining his situation. All of us need to remember that Hom…
MS: Check the data
I wanted to respond to Larry Spencer of Post Falls. He is getting his info from the New England Journal of Medicine in 1983? Holy Cow, how far back is that? Perhaps he is not aware that the Pacific Northwest has th…
FISH: But read this first
Attention: Anyone who fishes Priest Lake,
NOISE: Put a lid on it
The Coeur d’Alene City Council’s action to address excessive noise is certainly a welcomed beginning in dealing with this blemish on our town. For too long, out of control drivers and motorcyclists have been imposi…
SERVICE: Disrespected, dishonored
To Home Depot: I went to your store on June 6 to purchase some items for a home project. When I went to the checkout clerk I showed my VA medical card as I have in the past for proof of service. I was told by the c…
ORDER: Reasonable, inclusive
After reading the letter to the editor and the opinion piece from Rep. Jordan in Wednesday’s paper about private data invasion, I thought it important to share what I found on the internet. It was simple to find th…
