OPINION: Just like everyone else, Idaho’s Attorney General must comply with the law
Three years ago, I joined five other former Idaho Attorneys General in describing that important position as “the …
KINDNESS: One cup at a time
As part of my job at the Northern Lakes Fire District in Hayden, I was out doing some inspections recently when I stopped for a hot cup of coffee on a rainy day. Upon paying, I was told that “someone” had already p…
DIVIDERS: Make them uniters
I’d like to thank a fellow reader who submitted a letter addressing the problem in our nation currently. John Slaughter, on Oct. 24, voiced the opinion of many free thinkers among us. We should not tolerate those w…
DEBATE: One more word
Lee Gibson says he is shocked to hear what happened to Cecil Kelly. I imagine he feels the same about the bombs and murder of 11 Jewish people. I’m not buying it. Trump’s big mouth caused all of this, even a 10-yea…
HUNTING: Photos appreciated
I like to see the hunting photos in the paper. These hunters work hard to put food on the table for their families. I’d like to have a photo in the paper, but I’m not that good of a hunter.
POTHOLE: Enough already
One giant pothole resides at the Coeur d’Alene Post Office for many seasons.
ELECTION: Feeling blue?
Just want to make sure the cry rooms are ready for the blue babies to go hang out in come Tuesday.
SOUZA: For state Senate
I write to support the re-election of Senator Mary Souza. We need her to continue representing us and fighting for our community’s education choices, as well as for our teachers.

McNEIL: For U.S. House
I am endorsing Cristina McNeil for Congress because she will be an effective legislator in protecting seniors against cuts in Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and pre-existing conditions.
ADDIS: For state House
This Tuesday I’ll be voting for Jim Addis for State Representative in District 4 Seat A. I’ve known Jim personally for the past 20 years. During this time Jim has been active in our business community, helping prov…
PROP 2: Yes for veterans
On Nov. 6, please vote YES on PROPOSITION 2 — Medicaid Expansion. Do this for our veterans and your neighbors.
JORDAN: Troubling detail
It seems that Paulette Jordan and Hawaii’s Senator Mazie Hirono have something in common, specifically disdain for white men, and in Jordan’s case, “old white men.”
PROP 2: Points to consider
I’m disheartened that arguments against Prop 2 offer nothing more than political talking points and nihility of an option, putting idealogical fear ahead of common sense legislation that we might choose between.
PROP 2: A healthy 'yes'
As a volunteer who stumped for countless hours along with many hundreds of citizens from all parts of Idaho to get Medicaid expansion on the ballot to cover the 62,000 (5,000 of those are veterans) uninsured workin…
