OPINION: Just like everyone else, Idaho’s Attorney General must comply with the law
Three years ago, I joined five other former Idaho Attorneys General in describing that important position as “the …
TRUMP: Patriots can abhor him
My congratulations to Mr. Michael Quinn on his well-written letter concerning attitudes toward our president. Rarely have we seen a letter supporting this man without extreme vilification of those who are no suppor…
SMOKE: Don't forget the bluegrass
The editorial on “smoke” was very good. Thanks for the websites. I only thought the last paragraph was strange. When were “the days of old when North Idaho smoke was far less frequent and nefarious?” That must have…
CARRIERS: Pay and rewards
Eating out in Coeur d’Alene is a lot like home delivery of the Coeur d’Alene Press. Both deserve a tip for good service, both make sub-minimum wage (the carriers are private contractors, but you get the point). Tho…
PRESIDENT: Questions to answer
The positive note that Michael Quinn struck in his letter on June 9 (Sunday) was welcome. It got me to thinking over the question of what characteristics would make you vote for someone to be president of the U.S. …
TRUMP: No way to lead
Trump has surrounded himself with parasitic subordinates. We must watch while more children sicken and die in caged border detention camps. We must watch while the pesident sucks the compassion, empathy and protect…
WWII: Who will remember?
Thank you Michael Anderson for your June 8 “My Turn” article. I’ve been filled with emotion as “some” of us have celebrated in honor the history and lives of those who served and fought during World War II, especia…
POLITICS: Alive and sick in PF

SPEECH: Signs of the times
Some interesting contrasts occurred to me during last week’s significant anniversaries:
ARTICLE: Not news, but opinion
Coeur d’Alene Press, Saturday, June 8, Page A3; “World/Nation;” This page, seemed to me, is intended to be a brief summary of news, which entails facts and actual events that have occurred. News is not opinion! Opi…
GAS: Abundant in D.C.
The Green New Deal? Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez blames bovine flatulence and internal combustion engines on global warming. She even wants to ban all domestic air flights, although she travels from Washington to New Y…
OPINION: God and hate speech
Hate speech is funny. More often than not when people claim a person is guilty of hate speech is not that they really think the person is guilty of hatred, but it is more a clamp on free speech. If we truly hate so…
MEAT: The impossible is happening
The Impossible Burger, coming soon to a fast food joint near you.
TRUMP: See him in new light
A plea from a former Marine, former police officer, in other words, just a regular guy who really loves his country. A challenge to all Americans who think they despise our president.
SENTENCE: Possible turning point
I read the Coeur d’Alene Press article regarding Levi Grassi’s situation, and have a personal message for him.
SCHOOLS: Face the facts
Bamboozle: To fool or cheat someone. Let me explain.
