OPINION: Just like everyone else, Idaho’s Attorney General must comply with the law
Three years ago, I joined five other former Idaho Attorneys General in describing that important position as “the …
LIBRARIES: Close book on manners
Was a time in USA when public libraries were studious polite places of reading, learning, and studying. Noise was kept down to a whisper.
APPEALS: An unfair procedure
The Appeal Procedure needs to be changed in Kootenai County. Assigning a judge to rehear an appeal to his own ruling is ludicrous. The odds of an impartial and fair hearing are miniscule. Both parties to the Camp E…
GUNS: Treaty was a disaster
Fortunately the gun treaty that Hillary Clinton attempted to get passed through the UN failed to get enough support to pass.
HEAVEN: That's my choice, folks
I agree, “I am going to my Heavenly Home”! It seems when atheists or non-religious people speak out it is always about the “intolerance” they feel. It was stated that Christians explain things by “faith.” Of course…
SCHOOLS: Key voter information
The League of Women Voters of Kootenai County would like to thank Hazel Bauman, Cd’A Superintendent of Schools, for her time and presentation on the upcoming school bond election. We encourage everyone to become in…
TAXES: It's all about spending
All this talk of taxes and the rich vs. the poor is just barking at the wind. It is meaningless. Half the people in this country do not pay federal tax. Stating that the Bush tax cuts gave cuts to the rich is half …
MAIL: Change rule and save
The U.S. Postal Service has the ability to stand on its own. It doesn’t use a dime of taxpayer money. Outside interference by Congress to impose an impossible mandate in 2006 to pre-fund future retirees’ health ben…

CAMP: An act of benevolence
Since we moved to Coeur d’Alene, my daughter Emily has worked hard during the school year to earn good grades and the subsequent reward of summer camp…most specifically, theater camp.
FRONTIER: Disparity of wage earners
Frontier has demonstrated the formula for another low in corporate civic responsibility: Take a group of 100-plus skilled, loyal, effective employees (average age 55 making $15-21 per hour); have them use their ski…
SCHOOLS: Invest in your future
They say that “life begins at 40.” However, as I approach that milestone birthday, I’m thinking more about raising our children, maintaining our home and afterward taking care of my physical health and well-being. …
FAIR TAX: Answer to many problems
Fellow Americans, there’s been a proposal before Congress for more than a decade that would put America on track to a swift and permanent economic recovery. Congress won’t pass it unless we demand it. Its adoption …
