OPINION: Just like everyone else, Idaho’s Attorney General must comply with the law
Three years ago, I joined five other former Idaho Attorneys General in describing that important position as “the …
Cd'A: Logic hard to follow
I find recent city actions quite confusing. Do I have this right? With the McEuen Park project (estimated to cost up to $40 million) the council chose not to have a public vote. A few months later, the state is off…

GROWTH: Smaller can be better
I want to express my strong objection to the proposed 14-story building at the corner of First and Lakeside. A building of this magnitude is wrong on many levels. There has been a lot of discussion regarding the fa…
COUNTY: Get handle on crime
Residents of Kootenai County, please raise your hand if you have been burglarized or had your vehicle broken into or know someone who has within the last six months. That statistic would amaze you.

RATINGS: Shooting for the stars
Recently the State Department of Education released its ratings for some of our local schools. Harrison Elementary received a two-star rating while other local elementary schools received a rating of four.
SCARY: But a whole lot of fun
In response to the letter condemning Scarywood of “disgusting behavior,” I must protest. Many of the complaints from Faith Normington are under-researched or just misinformed. The main two complaints were “the six-…
SCHOOL: Bye, bye Miss American PYP
The xenophobic Coeur d’Alene school directors have certainly been busy of late. Whacked the IB Program for good, they did — Ciao! Dismantled the PYP Program too — auf Wiedersehen!
SCHOOL: Yes to IB, PYP, Props
I agree with much that Ben Rarick had to say about IB and the need to prepare all our students for a globally impacted future. As a parent of recent graduates of Coeur d’Alene High School and one daughter, the surv…
