OPINION: Just like everyone else, Idaho’s Attorney General must comply with the law
Three years ago, I joined five other former Idaho Attorneys General in describing that important position as “the …
QUOTE: Says something of guns
This quote I got out of a newspaper years ago. I don’t do computers so can’t check it out. This is for the ones who are too young or just don’t remember.
BUSES: It's the personal touch
There is a lot more to driving a school bus than simply picking children up and dropping them off. These men and women are responsible for the safety of our children. They know many of the parents and grandparents …
RINGS: Found - and so are friends
I would like to thank Bill Buley and Crystal in Classifieds for the wonderful way they treated me when I had lost my husband’s and dad’s wedding bands. I would also like to thank the lady who called to inquire abou…
QUOTE: Not up to high standards
I know that we live in a country where we have freedom of speech and also a free press.
THEFT: Stronger actions required
Let me see if I’ve gotten this story right. One Sheryl L. Carroll, while employed by the Coeur d’Alene City finance department, embezzled $360,000 over a six-year period.
2013: Play a numbers game
Couldn’t help but notice that as we enter our new year of 2013, if the four numbers (digits) were put in numerical order, they would be 0123. As the decades go by, there will not be four numerical order possibiliti…

TURTLES: Research or law-breaking?
I just finished reading The Press’s feel good article about the Clemson University student who is studying the relationship of local drivers to small turtles crossing the roads. This article, interesting as it is, …
SKI: Give credit where it's due
First of all, I enjoy reading your newspaper daily. I would though like to comment on the article “Sandpoint falls short in ski town throwdown.” In your article you say that “Nelson, British Columbia” won the title.
SANTA: Don't give him all the credit
The author of love, hope, and giving is Jesus Christ, not Santa. An article written before Christmas stated the opposite. We give and love each other because Jesus loved us first. Even the first Santa was influence…
MULLAN: School taxes hurt business
The story about Mullan in The Press missed a big part of the reason the town is dying. In a word, taxes. Not all taxes, as the city budget is only around $250,000, but school district taxes.
PERSONS: Logic lacking in city sale
The Coeur d’Alene School District owns a portion of Persons Field which the taxpayers bought many years ago. Now it wants to sell this property to raise money for the new school district headquarters building they …
NRA: Back up words with cash
Note to NRA: You have stated that you absolutely would not even consider any kind of regulation regarding restrictions on high power assault or military weapons or ammunition clips that hold hundreds of bullets.
